Kenny Lunt may have played his last game for Hereford United. He was sat in the stand this afternoon watching the game along with Darren Jones and Keith Lowe.
All were understood to be fit enough to play.
Manager John Trewick was asked about Lunt missing the game.
"There is a situation with Kenny Lunt," Trewick told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"It's a contractual situation which needs to be resolved.
"We spoke on Thursday and Friday and I'll be speaking again to Kenny on Monday and we'll see if we can resolve it."
It is believed that Kenny Lunt has played 34 matches for the Bulls and if he was to play another match it would trigger a clause in his contract that he could be at Edgar Street for another season on much the same terms as currently. With Hereford United running at a loss because of lower gates, his wage bill is considered too high for next season.
So it is likely that a deal will now be done between Lunt and the club to end his contract as soon as possible.
BBC Hereford and Worcester's Keith Hall has spoken about Lunt's situation.
"Kenny Lunt has got a term in his contract if he plays x number of games which he has virtually reached that he would therefore get a further contract guaranteed for next season," said Hall.
"What is going on behind the scenes we don't know but I think there are a couple of other players in similar situations.
"May be cutbacks further in the budgets for next season with the gates dropping that's obviously a big concern. Things already unravelling in that respect.
"The next few weeks could be interesting off the field, let alone on it."
Bulls News understands that captain Adam Bartlett has already gone over the number of games that triggers a clause in his contract. He is therefore likely to be at Edgar Street next season.
Ryan Valentine is understood to have three more matches to play before a similar clause in his contract is triggered.
