News Round Up

Notts County say they are in advanced talks over new investment. Peter Trembling and Sven Goran Eriksson have flown to Europe today to meet potential investors. Darlington have signed midfielder Michael Waite from Northern League Division One side Spennymoor. He previously had a trial with Shrewsbury. They have also signed defender Alan White on loan from Luton until the end of the season, and taken on Hibs' teenage striker Patrick Dean.

Barnet midfielder Albert Adomah is reported to be a target of Watford and Blackpool. Crewe striker Calvin Zola will miss at least two weeks after picking up an eye injury when hit by a ball in training. He may need surgery on the problem after the club initially feared he had a detached retina. Kidderminster hope to name a new manager shortly, with Andy Sinton reported to be also part of the shortlist. The former England man has been manager of Fleet Town for the last five years.

John Snape's Bromsgrove Rovers are likely to fold shortly. Bidder Mike Ward is to negotiate with the Administrators over buying the club's assets, but the club will be thrown out of the League once they are liquidated. Maidstone, whose predecessor went bust from the Football League in 1992, have failed to pay their players after just five home games in four months due to bad weather throttled their cash flow.

Cheltenham have resigned defender Ashley Eastham from Blackpool on loan until the end of the season. The 18 year old played five times for the Robins before being recalled due to an injury crisis. Luton have extended the lease on their Kenilworth Road home for a further ten years so they will be eligible for promotion back to the League. Port Vale have signed Brighton striker Craig Davies on a months loan. He has started only ten games, and scored only once in a year with the Seagulls.

Ex-Bull Tim Sills has finalised a move from Torquay to Stevenage for an undisclosed fee. He has signed an 18 month deal for the Broadhall Way outfit, with his Football League record now standing at seven goals in 73 appearances compared to 73 goals in 180 Conference games. Chesterfield have signed Peterboro winger Dominic Green on a months loan. The former Dagenham man has only made three sub appearances this season.

Shrewsbury have loaned striker Nathan Elder to AFC Wimbledon until the end of the season. The 22 year old scored twice in 22 apperances for the Shrews. Northampton have loaned teenage striker Joe Benjamin to Eastbourne for the rest of the season. He was previously there for a month in November.

The Football League have refused Stockport's takeover. A statement from their Administrator says the Jim Melrose bid still has issues to resolve with the FL. It is the fifth time the Hatters' fans have been given a date for completion of the takeover, only for it to fail. Darlington have loaned defender Rikki Baines to Gateshead until the end of the season.

Crewe have offered a contract to teenager Daniel Gardner. The Flixton forward spent three months of last season at Celtic.
