News Round Up

Notts County's situation has been investigated by the Guardian with their usual subtlety. They reveal that Peter Trembling only bought 90% of the club, with the remainder presumably remaining with Munto, while he denied speculation that the club needed an immediate £1million injection. Sven Goran Eriksson has asked lawyers to chase Munto and the associated web of companies for his missing payments.

Two of Port Vale's directors narrowly avoided being voted off their board as shareholders showed their unhappiness at the club's plight. The two directors needed a second vote including votes from the existing board to keep their posts. Chairman Bill Bratt says he needs another operation in January to prevent him being paralysed, after being treated for a blood disorder earlier in the year. Potential investors Harlequin are to sue The Observer for £10million over their claims about one of Harlequin's developments.

Macclesfield want to build a new stadium on the outskirts of the town. The 7,000 capacity ground will include a 750-seat theatre and community facilities, but depends on covenants on their existing Moss Rose site being transferred. Grimsby have extended the loan of Barnsley striker Michael Coulson for a second month after one goal in five games during the first month.

Lincoln have offered goalkeeper Rob Burch one of the biggest contracts in the club's history to try and keep him at the club, but they are not confident he will accept the deal. He is expected to leave in January for a fee rather than walking away for nothing at the end of the season. Elements Cefn Druids have announced that they have to slash their wage bill to stay afloat. Delays to a new ground mean they have failed to qualify for the restructured League of Wales next season, and attendances have fallen as a result.

Bury midfielder Stephen Dawson has turned down a new deal with the club and is expected to leave for a fee in January rather than a free in the summer when his contract expires. No Bulls in the Team of the Week. Morecambe get three into the XI, along with Burton strikers Steve Kabba and Greg Pearson.

Crewe face a fight to keep loan keeper Steve Phillips. The 31 year old is available for a permanent January transfer from Bristol Rovers, with his agent saying that Shrewsbury and a number of SPL sides are also keen. Plymouth are the latest side to be handed a transfer embargo. The club claim the matter is historical and will be settled before the January transfer window.

Rochdale's hopes of landing striker Chris O'Grady for longer seem to be over after Dave Penney, boss at parent club Oldham, said they want the striker back ASAP due to an injury crisis. They cannot recall him until his loan expires in January. The press are reporting that the water supply to Chester's Deva Stadium was cut off briefly recently due to unpaid bills. Kit supplier Vandanel has taken back unused kit supplies from the club to sell through it's own online shop in an effort to recover funds.

Shrewsbury are claimed to be looking at Chester pair Shaun Kelly and James Owen, with Paul Simpson at the Deva last Friday night on a scouting mission. Dagenham have extended the loan of Gillingham midfielder Adam Miller for another month. Bradford have loaned first year pro defender Luke Dean to Halifax for a month.

Scarborough's McCain Stadium will never host another football match after the local council decided it was not feasable to bring the ground up to scratch. They estimated that £600,000 was needed to make the ground usable after it was abandoned in 2007. The council will direct funds into a project including new community sports facilities in the wonderfully named Weaponness area of the town.
