James Walker is due to return to Southend this week as his one month loan deal with Hereford United comes to an end.
Whether Bull's manager John Trewick will want to try and extend the loan remains to be seen. However the current transfer embargo and injury situation at Southend might mean that Walker is needed at Roots Hall.
Last Saturday Southend were prevented from extending the loan of George Friend from Wolverhampton by the Football League because of a problem with HMRC (Revenue and Customs).
Their squad is already short because of players out with injuries and others unavailable because of loan deals (Alex Revell and Kevin Betsy were mentioned).
On the other hand there is a feeling that Trewick has enough players on the books at present particularily as several are expected to start training this week after injuries - Marc Pugh for example.
Any extension to Walker's loan is likely to be announced later this week in time for the Darlington match.
