Squad numbers may be cut says Trewick

John Trewick has admitted that the current Hereford United squad of 28 may have to be cut.

"We have got a lot of players in the squad at the moment and I don’t think we can sustain the numbers that we have. I may have to slightly cut the numbers," Trewick told the Hereford Times earlier this week.

However as reported earlier the manager seems keen to keep as many of the current crop of loan players as possible.

"I intend to speak to the loan players individually soon to determine how they see their immediate future as well as the rest of the season.

"They have all done a good job for us but I will need to look at the balance of the squad and a lot will depend on their parent clubs."

Meanwhile Trewick has spoken about tomorrow's game against Chesterfield.

"It will be a tough match and again it's another challenge for us," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"Over the last six games or so we've played quite well, better than quite well a lot of the time, so there have been a lot of positive signs for us.

"If we can sustain the sort of levels we've shown then we can get a good result against them."
