In last night's only Conference game, ex-Bull Nick Chadwick scored as Chester beat Gateshead 2-1 to cut their safety target to 23 points. Worse news for Chester is that the game attracted less than 1,000 through the turnstiles. Grays have appointed Julian Dicks as manager, presumably to tap into the West Ham fanbase in the area. He replaces former Bulls loanee Gary Phillips as their 14th boss in three years.
Port Vale are trialling former Brighton midfielder Jason Jarrett. The 30 year old was released from the Withdean Stadium in the summer. Crewe are expected to release promising defender Scott McManus, 20, due to personal problems. He has not attended the club this season. Torquay have Mark Ellis and Steve Adams back in their squad after Forest Green opted to end their loans.
ESPN have pulled out of a proposed deal with the Conference after examining the costs involved. Sources suggest it would cost £2million a year in total with all production costs with a channel spokesman saying 'We met Blue Square Premier but decided that it did not make business sense for us to show the league on the channel at this time.' Crawley boss Steve Evans has been banned from the ground for three games for another touchline outburst. The ban has triggered a suspended ten game ban, meaning he will not see his team play, pending an appeal, until December.
Salisbury have had their 10 point deduction for going into Administration confirmed, meaning they drop from mid-table to three points inside the relegation zone. Former Bulls loanee Ryan Flynn has signed a three year deal with Falkirk after initially joining them on loan from Liverpool. Flynn spent a month with the Bulls in 2007, but never made an appearance due to injury.
Bury are to take Leeds striker Tom Elliott on loan for three months. The 20 year old played six times for Macclesfield last season without scoring.
