They don't earn much at Cheltenham

Cheltenham manager Martin Allen has been telling the Gloucester press how some of his young players could move on from Whaddon Road.

"Let's hope we can sell some of them on and get a few quid in the bank and make sure this club keeps going," said Allen.

"They all have that target because they don't earn much money here.

"They have got to drive and push themselves on and off the field and it's there for them.

"A lot of them can step up and play higher, earning good money for their families and themselves and that is an incentive for all of them by coming to sign for Cheltenham."

As for how well Cheltenham will do this season Allen was quite reserved for once.

"We have a new group of players so how we cope and how we get on together is all to be revealed," Allen said.

"Nobody can predict what's going to happen, but I know I have a good honest group of players and they are doing okay at the moment."

Hereford United supporters will have the opportunity to see if any of Allen's youngster might make the grade this afternoon at Edgar Street.
