News Round Up

Aldershot goalkeeper Nikki Bull is to leave the club. In a strange announcement the club have confirmed he will leave at the end of July, but no reason has been given. Bull has been linked to a string of League sides throughout his seven year spell with the Shots, during which time he has played over 250 times. Lincoln chairman Stef Wright has defended the club's transfer policy on the back of a quiet pre-season so far. He says they will spend money on the right player.

Two Accrington players start their trial for affray today in the same case in which Steven Gerrard is charged. Keeper Ian Dunbavin and midfielder Robert Grant are expected to face a two week trial at Liverpool Crown Court. Bradford hope to sign ex-Huddersfield midfielder Andy Holdsworth after he turned down a move to Millwall to remain up north. Torquay are trialling a new 4-1-4-1 formation for the new season after using a 4-4-2 for the last two years.

Conference betting guru Alan Alger, of sponsors BlueSq, has predicted Chester will be relegated in the coming season. He thinks Mansfield will win the title. Rotherham's new striker Tom Pope admitted he went to their training ground in Doncaster rather than Sheffield's Don Valley stadium for Saturday's friendly with Walsall. When he eventually arrived he scored in the 2-1 loss.

Chester have failed to get their paperwork straight in time to save a money-spinning friendly with a Liverpool XI tomorrow night, and have also cancelled Saturday's match with AFC Telford. The club named former Accrington owner Eric Whalley as a new board member hours before the latest crisis with the local press suggesting the club may have to re-enter Administration to untangle the mess. Dagenham have made their opening home match all ticket to away fans as rebuilding work starts on their ground. They have to comply with FL rules to have 2,000 seats by next May.

Accrington have taken one £25,000 interest free loan from a fan to cover the first installment of their overdue tax bill and are set to accept the second month's payment from the new Supporters' Fund to cover the latest installment as they wait on revenues from gate money to cover future payments. Yeovil hope to offer a contract to former Bulls trialist Sam Williams after he played for them in the South West Challenge.
