News Round Up

Former Chester no.2 Steve Bleasdale is the latest name in the frame for the no.2 job at Crewe. The Railwaymen also face a battle for fans after Stoke City paid for adverts for the Premier club to be placed in the streets around Gresty Road. Dagenham are to lose defender Magnus Okuonghae after his agent confirmed he had rejected a new contract. Unlike the other three due to depart they will be entitled to compensation as he is only 23.

Bournemouth owner Paul Baker has revealed he had to switch preferred bidders at the last minute after his original choice failed to provide a deposit. EU UK Ltd, who were announced as winning bidders before Baker bought the club in 2008, failed again leaving a consortium of local faces as the last man standing. Notts County have sold just over 2,000 season tickets, down around 5% on last season's number at this stage.

Ex-Bull Chris Hargreaves has agreed a one year deal with Torquay as player-coach. Chester are the latest club to raffle a sponsorship opportunity. They are offering fans the chance to name their West Stand for £10 a ticket. Rochdale have added a second keeper inside a week with the signing of teenager Matthew Edwards following his release from Leeds.

Setanta have started taking subscriptions for new customers again, but still face a week of uncertainty. A number of investors are undergoing due-dilligence on the company's books this week and the whole business could be in new hands by the end of the week. The Premier League has also given them until Friday to pay their overdue installment on their contract, while the Conference told it's clubs at their AGM to not count on the £75,000 TV money next season.

Port Vale have signed released Brighton midfielder Tommy Fraser. The 21 year old played for new boss Micky Adams at the Seagulls. Adams has confirmed talks with Dean Windass over a player-coach role, but admits the distance from the striker's house could scupper any deal.
