Hereford United have confirmed the long expected signing of Forest Green captain Darren Jones.
Central defender Jones, 25, was recommended to John Trewick by Bulls physio Jamie Pitman, who spent two seasons alongside the Welsh non-league international as player and assistant boss. The official announcement of his signing does not give a contract length, but it is expected to be a one year deal.
He started as a trainee at Bristol City, making just one start and a sprinkling of sub appearances, before having loan spells at Forest Green and Cheltenham prior to being released in 2004. He spent two years at Newport before returning to Gloucestershire for a three year spell.
He is the eleventh player to commit to the club for the coming season. Only two of last season's squad are still believed to be be considering offers. Kris Taylor has previously been claimed to have agreed to sign, but Ben Smith appears to have played his last game for the club after receiving an offer from the club that he considered disappointing.
