Crewe have said they are unlikely to sign former player Kenny Lunt following his release from Sheff Weds. The 30 year old creative midfielder had a spell on loan at Gresty Road last season but did not fit into Gudjon Thordarson's plans. Port Vale will interview managerial candidates this week, but have said that former player Andy Porter is not in the frame. Porter has angered his York employers by not asking permission to apply for the job.
Ex-Bull Steve Blatherwick has expressed an interest in taking up the management mantle at Chesterfield alongside fellow ex-Spireites player David Reeves. Blatherwick, 35, retired three years ago on doctor's advice but has been coaching with Reeves at Gainsborough Trinity. Lincoln are claimed to be chasing released Chester pair Ryan Lowe and Kevin Ellison.
