Southampton are reported to be unable to cover the wage bill due on the 21st of this month. With no season ticket sales ongoing due to their financial problems, and no further matchday income, they have no way of raising the £500,000 monthly wage bill. Three potential buyers have shown the Administrator proof of funds, but none have tabled a bid for the club with around £32million in debts.

Oldham have confirmed the departures of assistant boss Tommy Wright and player/coach Mark Crossley, leaving a clean slate for new boss Dave Penney to create his backroom staff. Latics midfielder Daniel Jones suffered a bizarre pre-match injury yesterday. The on-loan Wolves man has a pre-match ritual of jumping up and down three times before the whistle, and the third jump caused him to break a metatarsal.

Brighton are claimed by Sky Sports to be about to sign striker Luke Rodgers. The site claims he will join former boss Russell Slade at the Withdean Stadium, but it assumes Slade will remain as manager. Port Vale boss Dean Glover opted to not to speak to the press after yesterday's match, leaving ex-Bull Keith Downing to say: "I think he feels his comments are best left close to his chest." Downing's role at Vale Park has ended, and Paul Ince is claimed to be on the Vale Park shortlist for the manager's job.

Barnet have offered 40 year old striker Paul Furlong a contract for next season. The veteran spent the second half of the season at Underhill on loan from Southend, scoring nine times in 21 matches. The Non-League Paper claims that twelve of the 66 Conference sides are under suspicion for match fixing. In addition to Grays and Forest Green last week, the details of bets involving ten other sides have been placed with the FA and Conference chiefs.

Darlington's fund raising all-star game saw 3,400 turn up at their ground to watch a team of legends take on their 99/00 play-off side. Paul Gascoigne scored from the spot in a 5-3 legends victory. Danny Carey-Bertram helped Telford into the Conf North play-off final with another goal to seal a 5-4 aggregate win over Nicky Law's Alfreton. They will now take on Gateshead on Friday in the final.

Ex-Bull Garry Breen scored the opener, but later conceded a penalty, as Ian Foster's Galway beat St Pat's Athletic 2-1. They are fifth in the table after ten games.
