Carlisle have voiced their concern to the Football League about Stockport's Administration.
The Hatters face one of the Cumbrians' relegation rivals today, and the club are concerned the timing of the announcement has severely dented the Hatters' preparations for the game - the result of which could put the Cumbrians' League One status in peril. A statement on their official site notes:
Discussion points raised by the Cumbrians' directors included the timing of the announcement and the impact it would have on the Stockport County playing staff, whether or not they would be able to field a full-strength squad on the day, the willingness of the administrators to allow an overnight stay ahead of the final game of the season at the Withdean Stadium, and any subsequent action to be taken should County emerge from this period of administration under the same operational banner.
Carlisle need to win their final game at home to - play-off guaranteed - Millwall and hope that either Northampton lose at Leeds or Brighton claim nothing more than a draw against Stockport.
Meanwhile, Crewe boss Gudjon Thordarson has echoed Graham Turner's sentiment that the Hatters - and any other side in Administration - should be automatically relegated: "This is not fair in my view. They can't afford to pay their debts, while Crewe only do anything if they can pay for it. Those who play that game should be relegated."
