Southend will field rookie keeper Ian Joyce in tomorrow's match at Edgar Street.
Regular stopper Steve Mildenhall limped off at half time of Tuesday's match with Brighton leaving Joyce to fill in for the second half. His only League experience before then was in a match against Crewe last season that ended 4-3. Joyce, an American who holds an Italian passport, previously played for Grays.
The Shrimpers also report that strikers Dougie Freedman and James Walker will also miss the match through injury, but midfielder Alan McCormack is fit after struggling with a groin injury.
