Local press are suggesting that Cheltenham Borough Council may bail Cheltenham Town out of their financial crisis.
thisisgloucestershire.co.uk is claiming that a £100,000 loan from the council is on the cards with further departures being caused by their ongoing financial problems. Jamie Vincent's long awaited departure for Colchester has been confirmed, along with two more departures.
Midfielder Ian Westlake, who only arrived on a six month contract in January, has joined Oldham on loan for the remainder of the season while big striker Damian Spencer is expected to move to Brentford after agreeing terms.
Despite recording two sucessive home wins the club remain deep in trouble and ten points short of safety. Crowds have plummeted in recent weeks with Tuesday's win over Tranmere their worst gate of the season, and over 1,000 under their average. The level of that gate, and the previous win over Hartlepool when only 100 more came through the turnstiles, is believed to have forced the board into offloading more players to stave off Administration.
