Bulls need 22 Points from 13 Games

Two defeats in a row have cast doubts on Hereford United's likelyhood of avoiding relegation from League One. However there are still some 13 games to play starting with this afternoon's visit to Edgar Street of Southend United.

Currently the Bulls have 30 points from 33 games. To be fairly certain of staying in League One 52 points has to be the aim. So 22 points are needed from 13 games or 6 wins and 4 draws. It's not impossible.

Southend have been on a good run of form recently as they have won five of their last six games. However, on the other hand, the Bulls have won three of their last six games. And one of the games they lost was to Peterborough, who are second in the League, by the only game of the contest.

This afternoon won't be easy but after two poor displays against Crewe and Bristol Rovers hopefully the team can bounce back into the sort of form that made Leeds United look a very ordinary outfit just three and a half weeks ago.

"The players know that they have to perform better than they did at Crewe and against Bristol Rovers," said manager Graham Turner as reported by the WDP.

"What we have to do is lift their spirits and not kick them when they are down.

"The league has developed into a position where there looks to be eight teams who will fight it out to avoid relegation."

Sam Hewson is expected to be back in the starting eleven after missing last Tuesday's game because of suspension. Hopefully he will partner Toumani Diagouraga in midfield who is expected to play despite receiving a nasty knock on Tuesday.

Andy Williams is also reported to be available for selection along with new loan signing Darren Dennehy.

Meanwhile as it is a home game there will be updates on BBC Hereford and Worcester. For full commentary there is a free offer on Southend's official website.
