Cheltenham Town manager Martin Allen has installed a former Hereford United player as his assistant. John Brough, now 36, has stepped into the post formerly held by Bob Bloomer.
Brough signed for Hereford United in November 1994 and made over 100 appearances for the Bulls moving moving to Cheltenham in the summer of 1998.
He became player-coach at Southern League club Bishop's Cleeve at the start of last season, but moved to Cheltenham a couple of months later to manage the Robins' Under-18 side.
"Different managers have different ways of doing things," Brough told the Gloucester press. "You pick up things from every one - some good points and some bad.
"The manager is very clear out on the training field and that's something I have always tried to be.
"I have not though about beyond the end of this season because we need to knuckle down and get out of the position we are in. But If we stay up, we will assess it in the summer."
