The announcement by Herefordshire Council that grants may be available to update pubs because the Council wants 'to help ensure that pubs are not lost to their communities' begs the question could any of this money be available to improve Legends, the Hereford United 'pub'.
The announcement has been made by the Council because of plans by Punch Tavern to offer some of its pubs in the county to the licensees.
"It is difficult to say how many pubs may potentially be for sale of the 20 or so owned by the group in the county. So we are getting in touch with licensees to see if they have been offered the pub and let them know of the potential to provide support for the pubs to upgrade their offering and make the outlet more sustainable in the longer term", said a Council spokesperson.
Meanwhile it has emerged that the Hereford United manager, Graham Turner, spoke to the tenant of Legends, Morro, last week and asked him to stay in charge until the end of the season.
The tenant was due to finish at Legends last Saturday.
It appears that whilst there had been three offers for Legends none had come up to the rent suggested by Hereford United.
