The revelation in the Birmingham press earlier this week that Hereford may be in line for some university facilites could help stop gates falling at Edgar Street.
Whilst nothing is approved as yet it is reported that the Government has around £150 million to help build new universities across the country.
Locally, according to the reports, there could be new colleges in Sandwell, Dudley, Herefordshire and Shropshire.
One of the proposals is that Hereford could become part of Worcester University not unlike the University of Gloucestershire which also has facilities in nearby Cheltenham.
Herefordshire council is reported to be in talks with Worcester University.
In the long term provision of some, at least, university courses based in Hereford could help gates at Hereford United. Currently youngsters who may have watched the Bulls often have to stop when they go off to distant universities.
