Turner let down over Premiership Striker

Graham Turner has told BBC Hereford and Worcester that his efforts to bring a striker from a Premiership club to Edgar Street have failed.

Earlier this week it looked as though the deal would go through said Turner but the club has now decided they might need the player this weekend.

"It was looking quite positive. Started last week in discussions. Because it was FA Cup last Saturday it wasn't urgent. We couldn't have played him in that," said Turner.

"The early part of this week it looked reasonably positive. Spoke to them yesterday and they are going to put him back in their first team on Saturday."

Turner talked about the type of player he was looking for.

"We need somebody who is going to improve the team. It 's difficult to find them because everybody is looking for goalscorers. Everybody is looking for strikers.

"It's limited to the choices you get and the profile we want is somebody with a bit of experience, with a record of goalscoring.

"It hasn't materialised at this point. But we haven't given up yet."

Turner also revealed that he has no new injury concerns ahead of Saturday's game against Cheltenham. However full back Richard Jackson, who is close to a return, may not make it.

Finally Turner said he was hoping for a gate on Saturday 'in excess of 4,000'.
