Staying Up Worth £150,000

Staying in League One for next season will be worth around £150,000 extra as a new TV contract increases revenue to the Football League by 135%.

While the bulk of the money - 80% - of the new £110million a season deal goes to the Championship, with teams receiving around two and a half times their current £1.2million income, League One sides will see a £150,000 increase on current revenues to around £550,000 each from their 12% share.

The new TV deal, which will see over 100 matches broadcast live on Sky with the BBC also showing selected games, will also cushion the blow of relegation to sides dropping into League Two with the increased revenue reducing the TV income of sides relegated this season by only £30,000.
