Murray needs first team football - McCarthy

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Mick McCarthy has told the Birmingham press that he's happy for Hereford to take goal keeper Matt Murray on loan.

“You can only take it stage by stage and Matt’s at the stage where he needs first-team football.

“He has to forget everything else and go and play and that’s what he’ll do.

“He’ll be training with them from Friday so that they can get the maximum out of him in the month. It’s great for him because while these (reserve) games are good, they’re not first-team football.

“He’ll be in the middle of something that involves points, promotion or relegation, financial issues – all those things that count in competitive football.

“I’m sure he’ll do them a real turn and be a good player for them. They’re bottom of the league, but he’s better off going somewhere where he’s going to get some work – and I’m saying that with the greatest of respect to Hereford.”
