Hereford United was featured on BBC Midlands this evening. For those who weren't able to watch below is a transcript of most of what was said. It started with the reporter talking about manager Graham Turner.
After 44 years in professional football he thought he had seen everything but last Saturday Graham Turner who is the manager, the chairman and the owner of Hereford United got the shock of his life. Just two hours before kick-off his goalkeeper Darren Randolph simply refused to play. So the boss sent him packing and rang up a familiar face at his old club Wolves.
When Matt Murray got the call to join Hereford United on loan he soon discovered fitness coach Tony Ford was pulling no punches. For the next four weeks Tony, a former Olympic weight-lifter, will be helping Matt, the forgotten man of Molineux, to kick start his football career.
"The lads here are really friendly and all the staff. I just can't wait to get training with the boys and I'm looking forward to Saturday's game," said Murray.
The miserable weather was typical of Hereford's season so far. They've won promotion twice in three years but now the Bulls are getting bogged down in League One. So Matt has been drafted in to make his home debut tomorrow against Cheltenham, one of their relegation rivals.
"To get somebody in of the calibre of Matt Murray - we are absolutely delighted," said Graham Turner.
"We just hope he does a good job for us and he gets himself match fit and comes into contention in the end at Wolves."
Matt was clearly in need of a mac. But he would far rather be soaked to the skin and playing again than left high and dry with his leg in plaster like the last time we popped around to see him back in February.
"I'm really really pleased for the lads in the (Wolves) team and also I want to be part of it but this is hopefully a stepping stone to getting there," commented Murray.
Graham Turner has followed Matt's career since he was a teenager. He believes his big personality will boost moral and help to lift Hereford off the foot of the table. But whatever happens during his month on loan there is no danger that his new goalkeeper will refuse to play like the previous one did when Saturday comes.
