Wales manager John Toshack has spoken to the Welsh Press about former Hereford United winger Paul Parry's decision to quit Wales.
“I am absolutely shocked by what has happened. Disbelief? Yes, that is the right word," said Toshack.
“Paul told us he was quitting, even though we made it clear he would have started up front against the Russians, which would have been a great opportunity for him.
“We have had to start again and give real thought to the team selection for tomorrow night.
“It has left us in a bit of a pickle, but the other strikers in the squad trained well and we will look at everything again today before making a final decision.
“We’re already without Craig Bellamy and Freddy Eastwood and the timing of Paul’s decision left us with no opportunity of calling up anyone else before travelling.”
A source close to the Wales manager said: “Make no mistake, Tosh is absolutely furious about this. Parry’s decision has come right out of the blue.
“He cannot believe somebody is turning down the chance to play for Wales in a big World Cup qualifier.”
