News Round Up

Peterboro have now put Aaron McLean in the £5million bracket. Speaking to the press, Barry Fry said the club had rejected a £1.5million second offer from Wolves and told them the deal would be struck at £3million plus sell-on - plus £2million when they won promotion to the Premier League because 'if you get Aaron, that's where he'll take you.' Last week the Express and Star reported Wolves had been given a £1.75million asking price. The Posh have also come to an agreement with defender Adam Newton to pay up his contract.

MK Dons are to net £500,000 in compensation for releasing Paul Ince and Ray Mathias from their contracts. Leeds' pre-season has been disrupted with the Police forcing the cancellation of a proposed Doncaster-Leeds friendly. Huddersfield are the fourth club to set a lunchtime kick off for a Leeds visit, with Yeovil expected to follow suit much to Leeds fans disappointment.

Scunthorpe would have hijacked Shrewsbury's move for Grant Holt if they had sold striker Martin Paterson sooner, according to boss Nigel Adkins. The Irons had a £250,000 bid for Holt rejected last August.
