Foxes think of League One and Edgar Street

Leicester City don't like the possibility of playing in League One next season.

An article in the Leicester Mercury points out the delights of clubs they would have to visit.

Going down would open up the prospect of boldly going to some of the country's more far-flung towns and cities.

From ramshackle grounds complete with terracing, to 300-mile round-trips to the north east, City fans will be exploring some unchartered territory should the unthinkable happen.

Among the delights that would await Leicester City in League One is Gillingham's Priestfield with its open-air stand, a 380-mile round trip to Yeovil's Huish Park, and the possibility of outnumbering home supporters at Hereford's Edgar Street ground, where attendances have struggled to reach 3,500.

Leicester travel to Stoke on Sunday when their fate will be decided. It they drop to League One it will be the lowest position they have been in their 114 year exsistance.

Cliff Ginetta, chairman of Leicester City Supporters Club, spoke of the prospect.

"I think it would be a bit of a culture shock after being used to visiting the big stadiums to drop down to League One standards.

"It will mean swallowing hard and getting up a bit earlier on Saturdays to try and get to some of these places.

"It can be hard enough in the Championship some days, but I'm sure that people will still travel.

"Our away support is legendary around the country and it is rare that we have less that 1,000, even for the long haul trips on a week night."
