Rotherham's future is back in doubt after their former owner, and current stadium owner, Ken Booth threatened to take the Administrator to court.
Booth has threatened court action to block any sale of the club if a number of perks afforded to him are not guaranteed to him after the sale. The perks - including free tickets, hospitality, advertising, and even use of the club's physio - were written into the leases of the club's tenure at Millmoor. Booth wants the Administrator to make the perks a term of any sale, meaning they will remain in force even if the club move to a new stadium.
Administrator Jeremy Bleazard received a fax at lunchtime today ordering him to guarantee the perks would be part of the sale: "The fax went on to say that failure to give such an undertaking by 4pm today could result in an application to court tomorrow morning requesting an order restraining the sale of the club and we would be liable for their costs.
"If the application were to be made I have no funds to defend the action and may have to close the club immediately"
Bleazard added that two of five bidders had already withdrawn after the full terms of the leases, and the associated perks, were revealed to them. If Rotherham were to close before the end of the season and their record of games removed, the main differences would be at the bottom of the table. Both Chester and Notts County would lose a valuable point, while Accrington would lose three.
