Quakers Set To Recall Wainwright

Darlington are set to recall winger Neil Wainwright - but not until after tomorrow's match with the Bulls.

They offloaded the winger last month with a glut of forward options to choose from, but failed to insert a recall clause into the loan deal agreed with Mansfield. With a string of front line personnel out of contention the 30 year old will now return to the club on Monday. Manager Dave Penney told the Northern Echo:

"He trained with us today and he got ten minutes on the pitch for Mansfield on Tuesday night. He's probably only played an hour in five or six games at Mansfield. If we'd known that was going to be the situation we wouldn't have let him go in the first place. We wanted him to go there and get games.

"He would have been involved with us with the injuries we've got. We'll get Saturday's game out of the way - that is technically his last game - and after then we can recall him. At this moment that's what we'll do."

Darlington will be without four forwards for tomorrow's game with two - Tommy Wright and Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu - expected to be fielded while not fully fit. Defender Ryan Valentine is also on the verge of contention after two weeks out with a groin problem.
