Turner asks for Better Support

Hereford United manager Graham Turner has made clear his disappointment with the level of support for the Bulls this season.

"I am disappointed with the level of attendance. We got more in the Conference for some unknown reason," Turner told Sky.

"We've averaged just over three thousand this season. Given our position in the League, given that some of the opposition have brought quite a good following, the support from Hereford itself has been disappointing.

"Wycombe last week, third versus fifth, we only had 2800 of our own supporters at the game which is alarming.

"I can't understand it. I can't figure it out what they expect because we are playing good football, we're up near the top of the table, we've got some decent players, we score goals.

"I'm disappointed that more don't turn out."

The interview also touched on Turner's use of the loan system this season.

"A number of clubs at our level take players on loan. It's probable we've taken more than most and we've had some success with them. They've contributed a lot to the season we've had so far.

"I think managers at bigger clubs have recognised the way we try and play, the way we get it down and pass it and thought it would be good education for their players to come out for six months with us. And so it's proved and some of them have done extremely well.

"I think there has been a benefit to us and a benefit to the players and the parent clubs as well. The whole system has worked well for us.

"The criticism - I'm oblivious to that. We've obeyed the rules. We're allowed to put five in the sixteen on the team sheet and that's what we have done."

Turner summed up the season so far.

"Whatever happens at the end of the season it's been a good one. We had a flirtation in the FA Cup and the Carling Cup - some good games in that.

"So all in all it's been a very enjoyable season from my point of view.

"We're trading in the black so as a chairman I'm quite happy with that situation. We've got some good young players here, again I'm happy with that situation. And the enthusiasm in the club itself is terrific.

"And you get that with loan players and you get that with a bit of success so I've enjoyed every minute of this season.

"We hope there is going to be a real highlight at the end and that we'll be good enough to gain promotion. But whatever happens we've done extremely well."

After the interview was shown former manager Ian Dowie commented that he thought Turner had used the system well.

"He's got goals from his loan signings - 25 goals between them."
