Smith looks for more support

Hereford United captain Ben Smith is hopeful that attandances will improve as the season reaches its climax. His words follow on manager Graham Turner's comments broadcast on Sky last evening.

"We would like to have a few more through the gate. It would be nice for the last few games to get to four or five thousand," Smith told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"It gives us encouragement especially in games like this where it's hard. Sometimes you need that little bit of buzz from somewhere and it can be the crowd that gives it to you."

Commenting on the game Smith thought it was probably a fair result.

"They came with a game plan. They've sat back and tried to make it hard for us which they did. That's the sort of respect we are getting now.

"While we had a few chances I don't think we quite did enough to win although we had the vast majority of the play.

"Their keeper made some good saves and Wayne made a really good double save for us early in the second-half as well.

"On another day if one of those goals goes in we would have gone on to win the game I think."

The conditions didn't help Hereford.

"It was really weird. It was like we had autumn, winter and spring all in one. One minute it was windy, next minute it was snowing then it was clear skies again."
