Former Bulls Watch

Michael McIndoe started as Bristol City kept up their promotion hopes with a 1-1 away draw against fellow contenders Charlton at The Valley. Jamie McCombe, brother of Hereford's John, scored for the visitors. Elsewhere in the Championship, Paul Parry started as Cardiff gained a credible draw at Crystal Palace whilst Watford named John Eustace in their starting line-up, but Lionel Ainsworth wasn't included in the sixteen. Kawl Hawley was an un-used substitute for Preston, as they defeated Leicester City at the Walkers Stadium.

In League One, Andy Williams played 58 minutes before being replaced for Bristol Rovers, as they crashed to a home defeat against high-fliers Doncaster Rovers, coached by Richard O'Kelly.

The League Two programme saw just two former Bulls playing. Darlington beat Chester 1-0, but Rob Purdie wasn't in the team. Nicky Nicolau made a late substitute appearence as his Barnet side fell to new league leaders Peterborough at Underhill, whilst Alan Connell was helpless up front as Brentford were stuffed 4-1 by struggling Bury at Griffin Park.

Craig Stanley's dream of playing at Wembley in two successive seasons are seemingly over, but for a late play-off push by Morecambe as they drew 0-0 with Grimsby. The Mariners won 1-0 on aggregate and go on to face MK Dons in the final of the Football League Trophy.

In the Blue Square Premier, there were goals galore at Kiddie and Weymouth. Forest Green had a fantastic away win at Weymouth, with Stuart Fleetwood contributing two goals. Jamie Pitman also started but was later substituted as Weymouth eventually lost out 6-0. At Agborough, Alex Jeannin started, and Brian Smikle came on as Kiddie overpowered Steve Bull's Stafford Rangers 6-0. Elsewhere, Chris Lane was a used sub for Altrincham as they drew a thriller with Halifax 3-3, whilst Tony James helped Burton to a 0-0 draw at York. Bertrand Cozic was on the bench for Exeter at Crawley, but Adam Stansfield was out. Phil Gulliver started as Rushden beat Farsley whilst Scott Tynan kept goal for Northwich, as they picked up vital points against fellow strugglers Droylsden.

Finally, Hereford loanee Marcus Palmer made his second appearence for Gloucester City and kept up his impressive start. The youngster scored "a screamer" to make it four goals in two games, as Gloucester cruised to a 4-1 victory over Tiverton.
