Very Professional Performance says Trewick

Hereford United's 2-0 win over Chesterfield this afternoon was described by coach John Trewick as a very professional performance.

"I suppose people could argue second half we let them have too much of the ball," Trewick told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"It was part of the plan really. We've had to look at what we do at home because of the way teams come to us. We feel with the pace we have up front we can afford to sit a little bit deeper, keep a better shape and look to play on the counter attack a little bit more.

"We've had a great result today, scored two and kept a clean sheet - that could be the key between now and the end of the season for us."

Trewick was pleased with the early goal.

"It just settles everybody down. The problem is after the last two games everybody expects us to win by four or five - that doesn't happen every week. People have got to be realistic."

He admitted that before the game he had spoken to loan striker Sherjill MacDonald and told him not to be disappointed if you don't score.

"It's impossible to score two and three every week. Fortunately he came up with another goal for us, six in three games, but he needs to keep his feet on the ground."

Trewick also spoke well about Gary Hooper who scored the second goal.

"That's four he's got for us. It's wonderful they are both doing their jobs but what we mustn't do is forget about Trevor and Theo having to sit on the sidelines. They have a big part to play. Everybody has to back one another."
