Ben Davies, the Shrewsbury captain, will miss Saturday's local derby with Hereford United.
He picked up a ham-string injury in their game against MK Dons and has told the Shropshire Star that the Hereford game will be too soon for him.
Meanwhile Kelvin Langmead will take over as captain, while Davies recovers from injury.
Defender Darran Kempson is also likely to miss the game.
