Just 147 supporters made the trip to Saltergate last evening. Some of those who didn't make it must have had a premonition of what was going to happen.
For those of us that did, sitting on wooden benches probably older than those at Doncaster's old stadium and getting colder by the minute, we witnessed as tame a performance by the Bulls that we've seen for some years.
The one bright part of the evening was that Chesterfield kindly allowed us under cover for the terrace price. They, too, must have known it wasn't going to be our night and took pity on us.
And if memory serves me correctly wasn't the last time we sat on wooden benches also a 4-0 defeat (at Doncaster)?
Even BBC's Keith Hall wasn't there, probably the first game he's missed in sometime. Neither were most of the usual reporting staff from the Hereford United Official Website.
One other point the last time Hereford United lost was to Morecambe after the players had been given a couple of days off. Last week the players had two days off after the Tranmere victory.
