Help for the Bulls from the Welsh

Several minutes of Hereford United on local TV this evening. Below is a flavour of what was shown.

Hereford United's pitch is maintained by a Talgarth based company so when Mike Lewis was interviewed by BBC Wales he told them why supporters travel over Offa's Dyke to watch the Bulls.

He's the groundsman at Edgar Street. The pitch has improved since the days of Ronnie Radford and Ricky George but Mike Lewis is in a difficult position. He's a Welshman working at an English club who are dreaming of knocking Cardiff City out of the FA Cup. And he's not the only one.

"A lot of fans come from Monmouthshire, Abergavenny, Brecon, Hay-on-Wye area, Mid-Wales probably because it's the nearest club to them," said Lewis pictured on the Edgar Street pitch.

"Further north is Shrewsbury, further south is Cardiff. Location wise Hereford is the nearest club and now they are back in the League, it's probably more of an attraction to come here than a couple of hours drive."

Also in the interview were a few words from Cardiff manager Dave Jones.

"They (Hereford) have had a fanastic tradition in this competition and it's up there with the best and that's something I can't change.

"What I am trying to do is make sure we don't become another great Cup upset."

Jones was also interviewed on ITV Wales.

"We'll go there in a good frame of mind. We know we've got a tough match. They are doing well in their own league.

"They will be wanting to upset us as much as we will be wanting to upset them."

On BBC Midlands they concentrated on Paul Parry and showed pictures of him in action against Leicester. Later he was sold to Cardiff City which neatly led to an interview with Hereford United historian Ron Parrott.

"It really couldn't have happened at a better time. We were going through a rough time just recovering from the CVA. Money was very tight. Really saved the club.

"Sorry to see him go. He was a great lad."

Finally Graham Turner had a few words about Parry.

"Terrific lad who came through the ranks, got the opportunity to move on. Was in the Welsh squad very shortly after he left here. And we're delighted for him. It will be nice to have him back.

"And it will be nice to send him back with his tale between his legs."
