Some Information about Tranmere

Tranmere Rovers ply their trade in League One at a ground called Prenton Park which is close to Birkenhead. Their nicknames are either Rovers or Super Whites. Ronnie Moore is their manager and Lorraine Rogers is their chairman.

They use a pricing policy for their home games (A, B and C). Categtory A games, such as when Leeds were the visitors early this season, are priced at £19-50 for Adults, Categtory B games are £16.50 for Adults and C games just £13.50. For all other supporters whatever the categtory prices are £9 for concessions and young people aged 17 to 22. Juniors, 16 and under, pay £5.

The Cowshed (away supporters) stand has fast food and a licensed bar and can accomodate up to 2,500 fans. It is a fairly new structure having been built in 1994.

Road travel to Tranmere is relatively easy from Herefordshire. Head for Chester and take the M53. Assuming the game is on the Saturday allow up to three hours. As for parking Tranmere is similar to Hereford United in that there is a large car park adjoining. However the charge is £4. Parking close to the ground may be difficult because of a 'residents parking scheme'.

For supporters considering travelling by train there is a soccerbus special from Birkenhead Central station to Prenton Park for just £1.50 or £1 if booked when purchasing a rail ticket. Train ticket prices vary but from Hereford it may be easier and cheaper to travel to Liverpool Lime Street and then to Birkenhead.

HUMADS and the FUNBUS have already confirmed they will be running coaches to the game. No doubt HUISA will be as well. Cost should be around £12/14.

This season home gates at Tranmere have averaged 6,780. However the first home game of the season was against Leeds United when 11,008 were counted through the turnstiles. Since then only the visit of Walsall has attracted more than 7,000. The capacity of the ground is 16.567.

Some home games are played on Friday evening. With just the River Mersey separating Tranmere from both Liverpool and Everton some football fans make the short crossing to watch Premiership football and so Saturday gates at Prenton Park often suffer.
