News Round Up

Accrington have sent striker Lee McEvilly to Rochdale on loan for the rest of the season. The former Wrexham striker has started only three games since returning to the club, and now returns to the club he played for between 2001 and 2004.

Grimsby have signed Doncaster defender Sam Hird. Hird, 20, joined Doncaster from Leeds in the summer but has struggled for games. Grays have loaned captain Stuart Thurgood to Gillingham until a permanent January move. He is the third player to have played under Mark Stimson at Grays to move to the Gills. Stimson has also made offers for three Stevenage players, which the Hertfordshire club rejected.

Chester's move for John Hartson is to be heavily subsidised by West Brom. Chairman Stephen Vaughan told the press: "The deal would be subsidised by West Brom and we can't thank them enough for that gesture. It is now up to the player to finally agree to move to us."

Torquay are submitting updated turnover figures to the Conference to get their wage capping allocation increased ahead of a planned spending spree in January. The club have seen a massive upturn in support since relegation, and sold all 1,100 tickets for their Boxing Day trip to Exeter in 24 hours.
