News Round Up

Rotherham are standing by director Dave Costin after he was arresting for alleged money laundering. The club claim the van hire businessman will be proven innocent, with Costin telling the press: "It's all a huge mistake on my part. I'm innocent and it's in the hands of my lawyers so I can't say any more at the moment."

The sale of Mansfield has been further delayed after it was revealed that the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF) had loaned the club £1.5million for work at Field Mill in 2001. The FSIF have the power to demand the money back if, as is likely, Mansfield no longer own the ground. Lincoln are to sign Doncaster goalkeeper Ben Smith on loan.

Peterboro have rejected a number of approaches for second string striker Rene Howe. The club did accept an offer from Wrexham for transfer listed midfielder Peter Gain, but the player rejected the move. The club have loaned defender Guy Branston to Northampton for a month due to injuries, but have told most enquirers that they are only looking for a permanent deal for the transfer listed players.

Scunthorpe are giving trials to two of the players transfer listed by Bradford last month. The Championship club are looking at Simon Ainge and Tom Penford, neither of whom can get into the side for the League Two strugglers. Northwich's takeover has moved no further as negotiations stall over their £500,000 debt. Caretaker boss Dino Maamria has placed three on the transfer list and wants to offer contracts to ex-Bulls pair Scott Tynan and Danny Williams.

MK Dons have signed midfielder Jordan Hadfield on loan from Macclesfield. He is the fourth Macclesfield player to join former boss Paul Ince at the franchise club. Wycombe manager Paul Lambert has been told to search the Conference for a replacement for Jermaine Easter. The striker moved to Plymouth for £210,000, but none of the money will be made available for a replacement.

Wrexham have confirmed Brian Little as their new manager. Displaced manager Brian Carey will assist him alongside the existing coaching staff. Little has Carey as a player at Leicester.
