Ex-Bulls midfielder and coach Keith Downing has been given the manager's job at Cheltenham on a permanent basis.
The 42 year old succeeds John Ward, who left to join Carlisle. Downing, who played 66 times across four seasons at Edgar Street, was named caretaker boss a month ago. He won only one of his five games in charge - a Johnstones Paint Trophy match - and has gained only two points from 12 in the League.
He has been coach and assistant boss at the club for three years under Ward, but is not a popular choice amongst fans. A local newspaper poll saw him gain just 20% of the vote in favour of his appointment, but he has signed a deal until the end of next season.
