Dearden: 'First Goal Offside'

Speaking to the press after the game, Mansfield boss Billy Dearden was disappointed not to have got something, claiming the Bulls' first goal was offside:

"The goal was two or three yards offside, I was level with it. But we can't blame the officials for us not taking our chances at 0-0, if we had gone in at half-time 0-0 who knows?

"Overall I am disapppinted we have lost, we deserved something after playing extremely well. They lifted their game after the goals, but we came back strongly for the last 35 minutes, played them in their third and I am disappointed we didn't equalise.

"We showed what character we had to come back and did well. We went 4-3-3, then late on 2,5-3, but we just couldn't get the second ball in the box to score."

Meanwhile midfielder Stephen Dawson, booked for protesting the goal, told Radio Nottingham the ref had apologised for the error: "The referee checked with the fourth official at half-time and he confirmed it was yards offside. He apologised to me."
