Chester will face Football League action over tonight's match at Lincoln.
The game was supposed to kick off at 7.45pm, but the Chester team bus still hadn't arrived at the ground by 8.10pm. The referee had agreed to a 8.30pm kick off with the Chester team changing on the coach.
Chester finally arrived at the ground at 8.20pm, with an 8.40pm kick off - two hours after their expected arrival time. Lincoln are offering refunds to anyone who has chosen to leave, with the game expected to finish around 10.30pm.
Chester could face a number of punishments. A fine is likely, considering it is the first offence of it's kind, although a points deduction and other sanctions are catered for in the rules. Chester claim they left for the game at 3.30pm, taking nearly five hours for a journey that the AA say should take two hours 40 minutes although a Lincoln spokesman said he did not know of any major traffic issues on local routes.
Chester won the game 1-0.
After the game Chester said that 'the delay was caused by heavy delays on the cross country route and despite the team coach leaving at a reasonable hour, it was 8.15pm before it arrived at its Lincolnshire destination.'
