Quakers To Continue Spending

Darlington will carry on squad rebuilding in the January transfer window despite a heavy turnover of players already in 2007.

Seventeen players have joined the club on a permanent basis during the year, with eighteen leaving permanently. The club have also signed four loan players during October, with one departing on loan.

Speaking to the local press, manager Dave Penney said the rebuilding was not finished: "We're pleased with the players we have brought in, they have all had an impact so we're happy with the way it is going. But there'll be more additions and people leaving in the January window as we try and get to where we want to get to.

"It won't be a mass changeover like we had in the summer. We've got the basis of a good squad but any chance you get you try to improve your squad."

Penney's one year reign at the club has seen the club win 21 of 50 games so far, with 15 losses. They sit third in the table but have drawn six games from 13 this season. They hold the best defensive record in the division, conceding just five goals, but have often struggled for goals.
