Halifax Town have avoided a winding up order, after they paid an outstanding £100,000 tax bill.
The Conference club, whose fortunes have been on a downward spiral since losing the Conference play-off to the Bulls in May 2006, are believed to have been bailed out by the consortium of Yorkshire businessmen who are scheduled to buy the club. An official statement on the club website only confirmed the withdrawal of the petition by the Inland Revenue.
The club received a much needed boost last night by winning their FA Cup replay with Evesham 2-1, receiving £10,000 in the process and securing a home tie against Burton.
