Despite reports elsewhere that Hereford United could agree to play Ledbury Town in the HFA Cup on Tuesday so as to get around Karl Broadhurt's one match suspension, this can't happen.
The rules pertaining to suspensions were changed last season.
Any player suspended has to miss the revelent number of first team games. The list of competitions that apply does not include county cup games.
This hasn't always been the case as Graham Turner used a County Cup Final early one August several seasons ago to use up a game for a suspended player.
Broadhurt received his fifth yellow card yesterday. No other Hereford player has more than three yellow cards at present.
During the period of a suspension a player only receives his basic wage which will have been previously notified to the FA.
The question of using the HFA Cup games to work off suspensions was raised at a fans forum in August 2004. GT's answer was a bit tongue in cheek, but he made it clear that the FA were wise to the dodge of hastily arranged county cup games, so we had to be careful.
