News Round Up

Dagenham keeper Tony Roberts is still waiting to settle his insurance problems prior to joining the Daggers in the Football League. Roberts, 37, took a £150,000 insurance payout nine years ago on quitting the full time game and has a new two year deal on the table. The matter may not be resolved until August, with the Daggers lacking a back-up plan.

Darlington have signed Airdie striker Ian Harty on a free transfer. He scored nine times in 27 games for Scottish First Division sides Airdie and Raith last season. Brentford have signed Charlton full back Grant Basey on an initial months loan after new signing Craig Pead damaged ankle ligaments in training.

MK Dons opened their new stadium last night. The 22,000 seater venue was limited to 5,000 capacity for the 'ramp-up' event as a youthful Chelsea side were beaten 4-3. Bradford are set to sign Paul Evans. The soon to be 33-year old former Welsh international had an injury hit time last season after moving to Swindon over a move to the Bulls.

Darlington have confirmed that striker Julian Joachim is free to leave the club, but they want the bulk of the £100,000 paid for him back. The former Premiership striker has two years left on his contract, but scored just seven times for the club last season. Chester have rejected a second bid by Bury for striker Simon Yeo.
