Boston manager Steve Evans lauded his ever-decreasing squad as they prepared to travel to Hereford for tomorrow's match.
The ever-colourful Scot admitted to their official website that neither Stewart Talbot or Mark Greaves would be fit for the trip, leaving the squad down to 10 professionals. The club has gone as far as to cancel the weekend's youth team match in order the plunder that side:
"In adversity, you can become a hero and we had 14 of those on show against Macclesfield Town in a match which we could have won by a double-figure margin if we had taken the chances that had been carved out. A number of our players are performing not only through the pain barrier, but also playing at the top of their game.
"At present you could drop an atom bomb in the middle of the squad and staff and somehow when the dust settled, all the fractions would come back as one. I am proud of what we are getting from what is quite simply the smallest squad of players ever assembled at Football League level, but I must ensure that our standards continue as we have four very difficult games on the horizon.
"We only have one focus now and that is Hereford United on Saturday. There are a number of dire, off-the-field circumstances which will hopefully be resolved, such as the players and staff being paid, but that is in the hands of others, who I hope can deliver that side of the business.
"I have had no option but to put all our youth team players on stand-by for the trip to Hereford, as it looks like Mark Greaves and Stewart Talbot, who both came off injured on Easter Monday, will not be fit in time for the match at Edgar Street.
"If you add to this the fact that Nathan Joynes has left us, it is a simple equation that we will travel with 10 professionals and some youth team members to ensure we can field a starting XI and a couple of substitutes."
