Every season about this time Premiership clubs tend to review their squads and there are always some players who for whatever reason are offered to other clubs.
This week at Lilleshall a number of these young players were shown to other league managers and scouts.
Amidst managers attending was Paul Fairclough from Barnet. He has already said there will be changes to his squad for next season.
Another manager looking for young players was Colin Lee from Torquay.
It is not known at present whether Hereford United's Graham Turner or John Trewick were at the trials.
Meanwhile an article in the Times this morning highlighted the fact that just five League Clubs do not have 'Centres of Excellence'. Those clubs are Hereford United, Torquay, Barnet, Notts County, and Yeovil Town.
The FA gives around £138,000 to each club that runs one of these centres but has put a limit of a total spend of no more than £9.6 million per season.
Clubs that drop out of League Two have their funding cut by half for the first year then cut again until it disappears.
Centres of Excellence help develope young players and in return the club is protected from other clubs signing these players without compensation.
However the money available from the FA usually falls short of the amount required to run one of these centres. For small clubs such as Hereford United investment in such a centre is difficult to justify.
The FA is said to be reviewing the situation.
