Peterboro have appointed Darren Ferguson, son of Man Utd manager Alex, as player-manager with immediate effect.
Ferguson, 34, was said to be furious that he was overlooked by Wrexham as they chose Brian Carey as manager, and had not played for the Welsh club since. The Glasgow born midfielder has been named in the PFA team of the year three times in the last five years, and had been at the Racecourse ground for over seven years, racking up over 300 appearances and 30 goals.
Ferguson has appointed Kevin Russell, the one time Bulls loanee and former assistant to Denis Smith, as his assistant with Gary Simpson, assistant to Keith Alexander, leaving the club as a result.
Ferguson takes over a side that has recently spent around £750,000 on new players, and is expected to make further acquisitions.
