Pennock to manage Welsh Semi-pro team

A former Hereford United goalkeeper is expected to be named as the new manager of the Wales semi-pro team.

Tony Pennock, currently still playing with Newport County, is a Welsh semi-professional international and also a goalkeeping coach at Swansea City.

Amidst his claims to fame was keeping goal for Farnborough against Arsenal in the FA Cup. He has also played for Stockport, Wigan, Yeovil and Rushden & Diamonds before returning to Wales to join Carmarthen.

Pennock signed for Hereford from Wigan in the summer of 1994. However, with one clean sheet in thirteen starts combined with fifteen goal conceded in just three games, he was soon dropped. He finished the season as understudy to Chris MacKenzie and then moved to Yeovil Town.
