News Round Up

Peterboro's transfer dealings show no signs of letting up. After Barry Fry confirmed that they had spent £750,000 on Conference talent the club have now agreed a fee for Burnley midfielder Micah Hyde.

Leaving London Road are a former Conference pair. One time Conference top scorer Justin Richards joins Boston on a months loan, while former Stevenage defender Jude Stirling has joined MK Dons for a nominal fee. The Dons have also added Reading's teenage winger Jonathan Hayes on loan until the end of the season. Teenager Rodney Hicks has also had his Peterboro contract cancelled by mutual consent.

Torquay have added their third new face of the week in former St Albans defender Nathan Simpson, who was released from the Conference strugglers in October after a 6-0 thrashing, and have added to that by bringing in John Wheeldon from local football and signing Darren Baxter from Toronto Lynx. Baxter, a former Chelsea trainee, moved to the Canadian League after a string of non-league clubs. Bury have agreed to sell midfielder Dwane Mattis to Barnsley for £50,000 plus additional clauses. The club have extended striker Matthew Blinkhorn's loan from Blackpool for another month.

It has transpired that Mansfield fans caused a panic at the Cricket Fourth Test, when a banner was unfurled at Melbourne declaring "Haslam Out" - a message against their chairman. Melbourne cricket chiefs misread the banner as "Islam Out" and sent security to remove the banner and it's owners until the real statement was seen.

Wycombe have sold striker Jonny Dixon to Aldershot for £6,000. Dixon, 22, had two loan spells at Aldershot in which he bagged 13 goals in 22 appearances. Stockport have signed Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessey, 19, on a one month loan. Darlington have loaned winger Carlos Logan to Bradford for a month. The ex-Man City player has played just twice this season.

Macclesfield have signed Birmingham reserve keeper Adam Legzdins on a months loan. The player is best remembered to Bulls fans for a couple of fine displays for Alfreton against the Bulls in late 2005.

Barrow defender James Cotterill, who was dismissed for punching Bristol Rovers player Sean Rigg in a FA Cup First Round match, has been jailed for four months for the incident. Cotterill had already been banned from football until March 1st, and had quit his contract at Barrow. He is only the second player to be convicted for on-the-pitch antics following Duncan Ferguson's conviction for a head-butt in 1995. Rovers have received a welcome cash boost after Scott Sinclair made his Chelsea debut in last night's Carling Cup game at Wycombe. The former Memorial Ground trainee earns £50,000 for his former club.
